Established in 2006 by Alex Baglioni and Angela Calabro, and with manufacturing plants in China, Lucky Seafood strives to become the largest Surimi company in the United States. Surimi seafood has been and remains an essential feature of the Asian diet. Around 1100 A.D., the Japanese discovered that if fresh fish was cleaned, minced, washed and cooked, it could be stored and eaten at a later time. The product became known as "surimi", from the Japanese etymology “mash meat” or “minced flesh” and quickly gained popularity throughout Asia. Since its introduction into the US in the 1980’s, demand for this product has exploded in large part due to the health benefits, great taste and low cost. The United States has grown to become the second largest consumer of Surimi seafood in the world. |
