If I’m allergic to shellfish, can I use Surimi seafood instead? No. Some of our products contain the real shellfish in the formula. All of them use extracts and flavorings which could cause an allergic reaction.
Are there other allergenic substances in your product besides shellfish? Yes. Although we produce many different formulas, we have standardized our allergenic ingredients to simplify our allergy information for consumers. Our products contain the following allergenic ingredients: shellfish, fish, wheat, and soy. They are listed in the ingredients statement by their common names and also on a separate line under “Contains.”
How do I prepare Surimi seafood? For cooking ideas, please see the Recipes tab on our website for some mouth-watering suggestions. Lucky Seafood Crab Selects is fully cooked and ready to serve for your convenience. It can be used in your favorite salad recipes, or in place of shellfish in hot or cold dishes. I purchased a refrigerated package with no “use by” date on it. In that case the product was shipped to the retailer frozen and placed in the refrigerated case where it thawed. The retailer should have placed their own “use by” date on the package when it was placed in the refrigerated case.
How long will a frozen product keep in my freezer? We recommend a one-year frozen shelf life in a home freezer (about 10°F, and up to two years in a commercial freezer (below 0°F).
How long will thawed product keep in my refrigerator? If you purchase a product frozen and thaw it out, the product is good for 70 to 100 days after thawing if the original package is intact, unopened and the product is kept refrigerated below 38°F.
How long will an opened package keep in my refrigerator? Once the product is opened we recommend using it within 3 to 5 days. Once opened, the product should be kept in an airtight container for maximum freshness.
How do you recommend thawing frozen product? You can thaw this product by placing it in your refrigerator 24 hours before you plan on using it. Small packages will thaw overnight. Larger ones may take a full day. For emergencies, you may thaw by running cool water over the package. Never thaw by leaving a package out on the counter. If you accidentally leave a chilled or thawed package out for more than four hours, do not use. Discard it.
